Google has just announced on the Google My Business Covid alert page, Google has said that there will be reduced service for \’business information edits\’, \’newly created listings, claims, and verifications\’, and \’business reviews and Q&A\’.
They have said that they have taken steps to reduce the number of staff that come into their offices and as a result, are focusing their few remaining staff on Google Maps and Local search information “on the quality and reliability of information on Google Search and Maps”.
They went on to say “we want to ensure users and business owners have access to essential features like whether the business is open or has special hours”.
Temporary Changes Include:
Business information edits
Newly created listings, claims, and verifications
Our support team will manually review new listings, claims, and verifications for critical health-related businesses. While we prioritize these critical services, please expect a delay for publication of new listings, claims, and verifications for other types of businesses to Google Search and Maps.
Reviews and Q&A
New reviews, review replies, and new Q&A will be unavailable during this time.
Existing Google reviews, replies and Q&A continue to show but no new ones will be updated for the foreseeable.

“During the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, we are taking steps to protect the health of our team members and reduce the need for people to come into our offices. As a result, there may be some temporary limitations and delays in support as we prioritize critical services.”
We would recommend that our clients are patient at this time as we\’re sure Google will continue to monitor the situation and normal order will be restored as soon as possible. And don\’t panic, in these times of uncertainty, your customers will find a way to reward your efforts on Facebook or any other listings you\’re active with.
